The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has rescued crash victims involved in a lone accident on the Lagos /Ibadan Expressway and returned over N2million recovered from the  scene to the mother of the owner. Mr Clement Oladele, the FRSC Sector Commander in Ogun,in Abeokuta on Saturday. Oladele said that the accident happened around 10:15am and it involved 11 people, comprising of three men, six female adult and two female children. The sector commander noted that though, there were no deaths recorded, nine of the passengers who included three male  and six female adults sustained serious injuries. “The lone crash involved a Yellow Toyota LiteAce bus with registration number WWD 558 XA travelling from Ibadan to Lagos. “The suspected cause of the crash was tyre burst by the speeding bus,  which lost control. “The injured victims were taken to Ifeoluwa Hospital,  Ogunmakin for medical treatment and the road obstruction cleared, “he said. The most wanted cultist in Lagos, Kanmi, also known as Father, has been arrested by the State Police Command.Father was declared wanted by the police after he was recently released from the prison, Father was reportedly feared by cult groups within Mushin, Itire, Lawanson and Ilasamaja areas of the state. A wild tiger killed a 41-year-old woman who was collecting fodder for her cattle outside her home in south-eastern Nepal, police said Tuesday. Police officer Dilip Raj Jha said the animal, suspected to have come from the nearby Parsa Wildlife Reserve, on Monday pounced on the woman’s from behind and killed her on the spot. “The two men who went to retrieve her body also came under attack from the tiger. “They sustained minor injuries,” Jha told dpa. Under Nepalese law, the victim’s family is entitled to one million rupees (9,680 dollars) in compensation for death caused by a wild animal. Although tiger attacks are rare in Nepal, human-wild animal conflicts are common, raising concerns about the safety of people living near wildlife reserves. Nepal is home to 198 endangered wild tigers that live in protected areas in the country’s southern plains along the border with India.

Ten people, including three children, were killed on Saturday when a twin-engine light aircraft crashed into a house in the northern Philippines, officials said. The Piper 23 Apache plane had just taken off from an airport in the town of Plaridel in Bulacan province when it stalled and plunged, said the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines. The plane, which was on its way to the northern city of Laoag, was carrying four passengers and the pilot, who were all killed in the crash, Aviation Authority spokesman, Eric Apolonio, said. The co-pilot, who was on the flight manifest, reported that he was not able to go on the trip, he added. The aircraft burst into flames as it crashed into the house in a nearby village, killing five residents, according to Plaridel town Mayor Jocell Vista Casaje. “Three children aged 7, 10 and 17 years were among those killed in the house. President Muhammadu Buhari has described the death of Senator Ali Wakili from Bauchi State as “an incalculable loss to Nigeria’s democracy whose dedication to duty was remarkable and worthy of emulation.” Wakili, 58, and a member of the All Progressives Congress, was the chairman of the Senate Committee on Poverty Alleviation and represented Bauchi South. The President said that the death of the senator came as a great shock to him, adding that his dedication to duty would remain one of the greatest virtues for which the deceased would be remembered.  Amina Mohammed, UN Deputy Secretary-General, would next week travel to Nigeria where she is expected to hold talks with President Muhammadu Buhari and other top government functionaries. “On 23 March, she will travel to Nigeria for consultations with senior Government officials and other stakeholders in Lagos and Abuja,” the UN said. A car bomb explosion claimed by the Taliban in Kabul on Saturday killed at least two civilians, as the militants maintain pressure on the capital amid growing calls for peace talks. Two scrap traders at Igidanpani, New Garage market in the Ojota area of Lagos have been killed following a clash between the Yoruba and the Hausa traders.  The crisis reportedly started on Thursday as a minor misunderstanding between the Yoruba and Hausa trader involved in scavenging the nearby Olusosun dumpsite for aluminum, scraps and other valuables for sale. It was gathered that though the misunderstanding was settled, the Hausa man was not satisfied and out of anger, he later attacked his Yoruba counterpart, stabbing him to death. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would continue with the process for the recall of Senator Dino Melaye in line with the judgement of the Court of Appeal. INEC’s Director of Publicity and Voter Education, Mr Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi, told ChannelsTV: “For now, all legal hurdles as far as we are aware have been removed so the commission should proceed as if the case did not occur.” Voters of Kogi West senatorial district of the embattled senators appended signatures for the recall of the senator. The recall process was commenced by INEC, but Melaye headed for the court to halt it, but he lost at the High Court and thereafter appealed.
