Heavy snow hit Britain today with Met Office forecasters issuing warning over icy roads
Heavy snow is set hit parts of Britain today, with almost the entire east coast of England under a weather warning. The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for snow and ice from Northumberland all the way down to Suffolk and it is expected to stay in place for the foreseeable future.
North East England is expected to be the worst hit, with heavy snow flurries already causing travel chaos in parts of Yorkshire this morning.A devastating wind chill is also set to hit the country, with temperatures feeling as cold as -20C due to the icy blast.
High pressure will bring clear skies and Britain is expected to feel colder than Iceland and parts of the Arctic Circle.
