Golden Globes Getting Security Crackdown Due to String of Attacks

The Golden Globes is getting a security overhaul for the 75th anniversary of the awards show due to all the horrific and violent attacks that have occurred this past year.

The Beverly Hills police department tells The Blast “Due to the unfortunate events going on in the world today” the department is deploying additional staff and security measures to “ensure a safe and secure site,” when the awards show kicks off January 7th at the Beverly Hilton.

It’s a smart move by cops, considering this year alone we have endured the Las Vegas massacre, Ariana Grande concert bombing in Manchester and the Westminster bridge attack, just to name a few.

BHPD did not want to be specific, for security reasons, but said this year they will be using “the latest technology and best practices for high profile events.”

In the past, metal detectors, explosion detection, and trained dogs have been regularly implemented at major Hollywood events.

Police are also closing down multiple roads and entry points around the Beverly Hilton, with access only granted to residents of the neighborhood.

We’re told as of now there are no credible threats that would effect the show or the celebrity guests, but police stressed that the need to be prepared for any situation is top priority.
