New kings threaten to dethrone ‎Olubadan of ibadan

The new kings embroiled in chieftaincy controversies with the Olubadan of Ibadan land, Saliu Adetunji, on Monday threatened to dethrone the monarch.

The 21 kings were installed by the Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi in August.
Their installation was, however, rejected by the Olubadan, who threatened to pursue the matter in court.

The new kings and some Baales were crowned by the Oyo government following the recommendation made by a panel set up to review the Olubadan Chieftaincy Declaration.
At a press conference addressed by the 21 kings at Mapo Hall, Ibadan, on Monday, the new kings said the Ibadan monarch was taking decisions without adequate consultation.

According to the leader of the group, Lekan Balogun, the monarch was inciting the people against the state government. Mr. Balogun, also the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, accused the Ibadan monarch of taking unilateral decisions on behalf of the ‘Olubadan-Kings-in-Council’ on his own.

The Olubadan Palace has, however, not reacted to the dethronement threat.

FRSC returns recovered N2m to crash victim’s mum

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has rescued crash victims involved in a lone accident on the Lagos /Ibadan Expressway and returned over N2million recovered from the  scene to the mother of the owner. Mr Clement Oladele, the FRSC Sector Commander in Ogun,in Abeokuta on Saturday. Oladele said that the accident happened around 10:15am and it involved 11 people, comprising of three men, six female adult and two female children. The sector commander noted that though, there were no deaths recorded, nine of the passengers who included three male  and six female adults sustained serious injuries. “The lone crash involved a Yellow Toyota LiteAce bus with registration number WWD 558 XA travelling from Ibadan to Lagos. “The suspected cause of the crash was tyre burst by the speeding bus,  which lost control. “The injured victims were taken to Ifeoluwa Hospital,  Ogunmakin for medical treatment and the road obstruction cleared, “he said.
