James Harden Scores Small Victory in Legal Battle with Moses Malone Jr.

Houston Rockets star James Harden picked up a little win in his defense against a lawsuit accusing him of orchestrating the 2016 beatdown of Moses Malone Jr.

Malone Jr.
the son of the legendary NBA star Moses Malone sought to obtain documents from the Rockets pertaining to Harden as part of his lawsuit that claimed the man known as The Beard arranged the attack in response to a critical social media post.

Malone was seeking all personnel/file records for any complaints, reprimands, or investigations made against Harden including any player code of conduct violations.

The NBA scoring leader argued that any information in his file, including whether he was late for practice or got into an argument with a referee, was not relevant to whether or not he paid someone to assault Malone.

Harden objected to the request and a judge recently sided with him, saying the Rockets did not have to “answer any questions or produce any documents” requested by Malone Jr.

Earlier this month, one of the men allegedly involved in the attack, Darian Blount, was sentenced to 35 years in prison. According to the Houston Chronicle, testimony during the trial alleged that Blount told Malone he disrespected Harden and needed to be punished.

Harden has denied all allegations against him and claims he does not know the men who attacked Malone. He’s asked the judge to dismiss the case, but it remains ongoing.
